Applications are invited for a National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Lecturer post within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health in either General Surgery or Medical Oncology. This new post has been created as part of the prestigious UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC)/ Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) academic training pathway and offers candidates a comprehensive experience of clinical academic medicine working alongside internationally renowned clinicians and researchers.

The post forms an integral part of the General Surgery or Medical clinical academic training programme.

The post represents an exciting opportunity to combine clinical training in infectious diseases with a programme of post-doctoral research, providing 50% clinical and 50% academic time.  The Postgraduate Dean has confirmed that the post has the required educational and staffing approval and will come with an Academic National Training Number [NTN(A)] as part of the South Yorkshire rotation in infectious diseases.

You will have evidence of academic achievement and will hold an MD / PhD or equivalent.  You will have MRCP or equivalent and be eligible to hold an NTN, or may already hold an NTN, having undertaken some training at Specialty Registrar level.  The post is aimed at an individual of ST3 level or above.

The post will be appointed in one of the following specialties, depending on applications received:

General Surgery

or

Medical Oncology

The post will be fixed term for 4 years or until CCT is reached (whichever is sooner).
