BackgroundThe School of Childhood and Education Sciences is home to 1800 students, studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level on a range of programmes in Early Childhood Studies, Childhood and Education Studies, Special Education Needs and Inclusion, Physical Education, Community and Adult Education and it includes the Centre for Career and Professional Development. It works with numerous partners in the UK and internationally. Its staff, from a particularly wide range of relevant professional and academic backgrounds, engage in varied research and enterprise activities.
The RoleApplications for the post of Head of the School of Childhood and Education Sciences are invited. This presents an opportunity for a highly motivated person to lead and manage the School in providing an exceptional student experience founded on exciting programmes, internationally excellent research and knowledge exchange, and an outstanding experience at work for staff. The post holder will make a significant research and/or teaching contribution to one area of the School’s portfolio and to the leadership of the Faculty of Education.
RequirementsWe are seeking an ambitious and experienced academic, with a relevant professional background. Experience in research and/or knowledge exchange in a relevant area of work is essential. The successful applicant will have a full appreciation of the requirements and expectations Higher Education has of programmes in Childhood and Education Sciences, as well as those of stakeholders in these programmes, including employers.
The post holder will possess excellent leadership skills and abilities, reflecting the qualities set out in the University Leadership Framework. Consideration will be given to conferring the title of Professor on a successful applicant who meets the University’s published criteria.
